In a significant drug bust, police in Goa's Pernem area arrested Syed Asif Jibran of Telangana for allegedly possessing narcotics worth Rs 1.05 lakh, officials reported on Sunday.

The arrest took place during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, according to Superintendent of Police (North) Akshat Kaushal. Jibran, currently a resident of Anjuna, was apprehended during a meticulously planned raid.

Led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Jivba Dalvi and Mandrem police inspector Sheriff Jacques, the team confiscated 4.64 grams of ecstasy (MDMA). Jibran has now been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, confirmed Kaushal.
