A murder case was filed on Saturday against Bangladesh's former prime minister Sheikh Hasina following the death of a college student during the quota reform protests, bdnews24.com reported. The charges also name former education minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury Nowfel and 32 others, including several Awami League leaders. Additionally, 40 to 50 unidentified individuals have been accused in the case.

This marks the seventh lawsuit against Hasina since her ouster amid mass protests. Hasina, who is 76, fled to India on August 5 after resigning in the wake of massive student-led protests against a quota system in government jobs.

The charges were brought by Mohammad Parvez, the uncle of the deceased student, Tanvir Siddiqui, at Chandgaon Police Station. Siddiqui was shot and later died in the hospital during the protests. The case alleges that the violence, which included brick-hurling and gunfire, was executed on the orders of Hasina and Nowfel. The incident also claimed the lives of two others.
