Escalating Conflict: Israeli Strike in Nabatieh Kills Nine
At least nine people were killed and five wounded in an Israeli strike on Nabatieh city, southern Lebanon. The airstrike targeted a weapons depot used by Hezbollah militants. This follows rising regional tensions, including a recent rocket strike by Hezbollah and retaliatory killings by Israel.
At least nine people were killed and five wounded by an Israeli strike on a residential building in Nabatieh city, southern Lebanon, according to state news agency NNA on Saturday.
The Israeli military reported that the airstrike targeted a weapons depot used by Hezbollah militants. Tensions have dramatically escalated in the region over recent weeks. An earlier rocket strike blamed on Hezbollah resulted in the deaths of 12 children and teens in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, leading to Israel's killing of a top Hezbollah commander in Beirut's suburbs.
Hezbollah has vowed to retaliate against Israel, and Iran has also pledged to respond after the killing in Tehran of Ismail Haniyeh, the political chief of the Palestinian Hamas group.
