An SC/ST court on Wednesday delivered justice by sentencing two men to 20 years in prison for abducting and raping a Dalit woman eight years ago in Kota. Pappu Lashkar, 52, and Pappu Odd, 39, committed the crime in 2016 when the victim was out with her 18-month-old son. The Special Public Prosecutor, Hitesh Jain, revealed that the woman was held hostage and repeatedly raped while being threatened with her son's life. Remarkably, she escaped after two days, leading to the arrest and charge sheet filing on May 16, 2016.
During the trial, statements from 13 witnesses and 21 documents were presented to the court. The court not only sentenced the convicts to 20 years imprisonment but also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 each.
In a separate incident, a POCSO court in Baran sentenced a 22-year-old youth to 20 years in jail for raping a 16-year-old girl four years ago. The offender, Lokesh, had lured the victim through Facebook. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1.50 lakh on Lokesh.
