In a significant development, the Special Judge for CBI Cases handed down a three-year imprisonment sentence to five individuals involved in the infamous Telgi Bogus Stamp Scam. The convicted include Falguni Ben Babubhai Patel, Kishore Kumar Purshottambhai Patel, Prashant Nangappa Patil, Amzad Ali, and Shailh Zakir Hussain, who were also fined Rs 2.5 lakh in total.

The case, initially investigated by the CID Crime, Gandhi Nagar Zone, Gujarat, was later taken over by the CBI. The convicted parties were implicated in the sale and distribution of forged stamp papers and related documents in Ahmedabad and Surat, activities which were discovered during raids that revealed large quantities of counterfeit stamps associated with 'Sadguru Services' and 'Sahay Services.'

During the trial, a total of 16 individuals faced charges, with two passing away, and nine previously convicted. This recent verdict highlights the CBI's relentless pursuit to root out corruption, emphasizing the importance of accountability and adherence to transparency in public administration. The scam first came to light in 2001 and has since marked a significant point in India's legal fight against corruption.
