CBI Takes Over Kolkata Hospital Rape and Murder Case

The Calcutta High Court has ordered the transfer of the investigation into the rape and murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital from Kolkata Police to the CBI. Two CBI officers collected relevant documents from Tala Police Station, and full cooperation is expected.

On Tuesday evening, two CBI officers visited Tala Police Station in Kolkata to collect documents related to the Kolkata Police's investigation into the rape and murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, a police officer confirmed.

The Calcutta High Court has transferred the probe from Kolkata Police to the CBI, ordering the city police to hand over the case diary and all related documents promptly.

''The officers have taken all relevant case documents. We pledge full cooperation with the central agency,'' a police officer stated. Questions about when the arrested accused would be transferred to the CBI remain, as authorities await further communication. The doctor's body was discovered in the hospital's seminar hall on Friday morning, leading to the arrest of a civic volunteer on Saturday.
