Actress Ritabhari Chakraborty has demanded an investigation into casting couch practices within the Bengali film industry, citing parallels with a recent report from the Hema Commission that exposed similar issues in the Malayalam film industry.

In a Facebook post, Chakraborty tagged West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, calling for an urgent probe akin to the Hema Commission's efforts in Kerala.

'The Hema Commission's findings on the Malayalam film industry have prompted me to ask why the Bengali film industry isn't taking similar steps,' Chakraborty stated. She highlighted that many reports bear resemblance to her own experiences and those of her peers.

Chakraborty criticized certain individuals in the industry for their abusive behavior and urged her fellow actresses to stand against these 'monsters.'

'We must unmask these predators,' she declared, urging CM Banerjee, '@mamataofficial, we need a similar investigation in our industry right away.'

Chakraborty emphasized that show business does not give anyone the right to exploit women.

Her call to action follows allegations made by Senior Bengali actress Sreelekha Mitra against a prominent Malayalam director and the acknowledgment of similar misconduct in the Bengali film industry.

'I would urge actresses who have faced any such situations to speak up and not remain silent,' Mitra advised.
