Turkey's military has conducted a series of airstrikes in northern Iraq, reportedly neutralising 17 members of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), according to the defence ministry's announcement on Monday.
The strikes are part of Turkey's Claw-Lock operation, a cross-border offensive aimed at combating PKK militants. The PKK, which has been in conflict with the Turkish state since 1984, is officially classified as a terrorist organisation by Turkey, the United States, and the European Union.
Furthermore, Turkey has initiated multiple military operations in Syria against the Kurdish YPG militia, which it views as an extension of the PKK.
