A Tihar Jail official, identified as Deepak Sharma, has been suspended following misconduct allegations after a video showing him dancing at a party while brandishing a pistol surfaced on social media, officials said on Friday.

In the 18-second clip, Sharma, who serves as assistant superintendent of police at Mandoli Jail, can be seen dancing to the Bollywood song 'Khalnayak hoon main' at a party hosted by a political leader in east Delhi. Two other individuals were seen dancing alongside him.

Eyewitnesses claimed shots were fired in the air during the party, although the police have yet to verify this information. An official stated that Sharma has been suspended, and a fact-finding inquiry has been issued to the superintendent of jail number 15, his place of posting.

A senior police officer mentioned that they have also requested the licensing unit of the Delhi Police to take necessary action. Meanwhile, Sharma boasts a considerable social media following, with 4.4 lakh followers on Instagram, where he regularly shares workout videos.

As jail superintendent, Sharma was also involved in conducting raids in the barrack of alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekar in Tihar Jail. Mandoli Jail is part of the larger Tihar Prison Complex.
