IAS Officer Udit Prakash Rai Faces Prosecution Over Forgery Charges
Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena has sanctioned prosecution of IAS officer Udit Prakash Rai for allegedly forging signatures on his annual performance appraisal reports, involving top Union Territory officials. Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena has approved the prosecution of IAS officer Udit Prakash Rai for allegedly forging the signatures of three chief secretaries across two Union Territories on his annual performance appraisal reports, according to Raj Niwas officials.
The Lt Governor has also referred the case to the Ministry of Home Affairs for further action, adding another layer of scrutiny to the investigation.
No immediate response was available from Rai, a 2007 batch IAS officer. Rai allegedly falsified signatures between 2017 and 2021, drawing scrutiny from the Delhi government and leading to criminal charges filed at the IP Estate Police Station. Rai has been implicated in multiple serious offenses, including taking graft money and demolishing a heritage structure for personal use.
