In a significant move ahead of the coming assembly elections, senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) applauded the announcement of the Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana by the party's National Convenor, Arvind Kejriwal. Under this scheme, an honorarium of Rs 18,000 per month will be allocated to temple 'granthis' and 'pujaris' within the Delhi region. Former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, emphasized the importance of this initiative during his visit to the Jangpura Shiva Temple in Kilokri village, where he addressed a gathering of priests.

Sisodia noted the religious leaders' support for AAP and Kejriwal, highlighting the prayers offered for the party's triumph in the Delhi elections. Gopal Rai, Delhi's Minister of Environment and other portfolios, reiterated the scheme's groundbreaking nature, noting that Delhi would become the first city to provide such a substantial monthly honorarium to priests.

Adding to the ceremonial announcement, Kejriwal, accompanied by his wife Sunita Kejriwal, visited the Shri Marghat Wale Baba Mandir at Kashmere Gate to officially launch the registration for the scheme. This initiative, as Kejriwal declared, will only commence once the AAP secures victory in the ensuing polls. The plan ensures economic support to temple priests and Gurudwara 'granthis', aligning with AAP's electoral strategies and commitments.
