In a tragic incident, a hotel in Germany's picturesque Moselle wine valley collapsed overnight, resulting in two confirmed fatalities, according to local police on Wednesday. Rescue teams are urgently working to extricate three guests still trapped under the rubble.

Emergency responders have recovered the body of one female victim; however, they have yet to reach the second victim, a male, confirmed rescue operation chief Joerg Teusch. Four individuals have been rescued without serious injuries, including a two-year-old child and the child's parents, as per the latest reports.

Michael Ebling, Rhineland-Palatinate's interior minister, expressed optimism that the remaining three trapped individuals could be saved. Emergency services, comprised of 250 police officers, firefighters, and paramedics, are proceeding with caution due to the instability of the collapsed two-storey building. The cause of the collapse remains unknown, and investigations will commence post-rescue operations.
