Naxal Duo Surrenders in Sukma, Citing Disillusionment

In a significant development, two Naxalites, including a woman, have surrendered in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district. The duo, each carrying a reward of Rs two lakh on their heads, turned themselves in on Tuesday.
They cited disillusionment with the atrocities committed by senior Naxalites on local tribals and described the Maoist ideology as 'inhuman' and 'hollow.' One of the surrendered individuals, Somdi Madkam (24), was an active member of the 'Vistaar platoon no. 2' in the Madhya Pradesh-Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh (MMC) zonal committee of the Maoists. The other, Madkma Sona (36), was a member of platoon no. 1 of the Kalahandi-Kandhamal-Boudh-Nayagarh (KKBN) division.
According to an official statement, the surrendered Naxalites will receive Rs 25,000 each and will be rehabilitated in accordance with the government's policy.
