Alleging an alarming rise in crimes against women and children in Telangana, the BJP's Mahila Morcha (women's wing) on Tuesday urged Governor Jishnu Dev Varma to seek a comprehensive report from the state government on the atrocities against these vulnerable groups.
State Mahila Morcha president M Shilpa Reddy, along with other leaders, met with the Governor and submitted a memorandum requesting immediate intervention. They called on the Governor to instruct the state government to implement concrete measures to ensure law and order for the protection of women and children.
The women's wing criticized the state government's negligence and indifference towards these atrocities. They highlighted a significant 12 percent increase in the crime rate in 2023, according to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, and cited specific incidents to underscore their concerns.
