Russia's air defense units successfully intercepted at least seven Ukrainian drones targeting Moscow, while 59 other drones were downed over the Bryansk region near the Ukraine border, local officials reported on Tuesday.

'According to preliminary information, there is no damage or injuries at the site of the fall of the debris,' Moscow's Mayor Sergei Sobyanin wrote in a Telegram post. The drones were shot down in the Lyubertsy, Ramenskoye, and Podolsk districts, the latter located about 38 km (24 miles) south of the Kremlin, Sobyanin confirmed.

Russia's SHOT and Baza Telegram channels, affiliated with Russia's security services, reported that flights at Moscow's Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports were suspended during the drone attacks. Alexander Bogomaz, the governor of Russia's Bryansk region bordering Ukraine, said that 59 drones were destroyed overnight, also reporting no damage or injuries. Additional drones were downed in the Lipetsk region, south of Moscow, as confirmed by the region's governor, Igor Artamonov, on Telegram. Reuters could not independently verify these reports. Kyiv has not commented on the incident, while maintaining that attacks on Russia's infrastructure are in response to Moscow's ongoing invasion initiated in 2022.
