West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is spearheading initiatives to bring back 242 migrant labourers from the state, who are currently stranded in landslide-hit Wayanad district in Kerala. The Trinamool Congress announced this effort on Saturday.

In a post on X captioned 'Didi aachen sakaler sange, sakaler pase (Didi is with everyone, remains on the side of everyone)', the ruling party highlighted the West Bengal government's commitment to securing the well-being of the stranded workers.

The state Labour Minister, Moloy Ghatak, informed the assembly on Friday that all 242 stranded labourers are safe. These workers, skilled and in high demand in Kerala, will be provided transportation and support if they wish to return.

The tragic landslide in Wayanad has claimed 218 lives, including 90 women and 30 children. Of the deceased, 152 bodies have been identified by relatives.
