Kerala Chalachitra Academy Chairman Steps Down Amid Misconduct Allegations

Acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker Ranjith resigned as chairman of Kerala Chalachitra Academy following allegations of misbehaviour by a Bengali actress. He explained that his departure aims to protect the Left government's reputation. Ranjith intends to challenge the accusations legally. State Cultural Affairs Minister, Saji Cheriyan, assured that the government supports victims in such cases.

Acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker Ranjith resigned from his position as chairman of Kerala Chalachitra Academy on Sunday. His resignation follows allegations of misbehaviour levelled against him by a Bengali actress.

In an audio clip sent to a television channel, Ranjith announced that his decision aims to prevent damage to the reputation of the state's Left government. Despite stepping down, he plans to legally contest the accusations.

State Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cheriyan iterated the government's support for victims in cases of sexual misconduct and assured action against wrongdoers. The resignation comes in the wake of protests and an increasing political backlash from the Opposition parties.
