On Monday, JSW Group's JSW Infrastructure Limited unveiled a substantial capex plan of Rs 2,359 crore aimed at expanding the capacity of Jaigarh and Dharamtar Ports.

This expansion is a crucial part of the company's FY2030 strategy to increase its throughput capacity to 400 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) from the existing 170 MTPA. The approved plan includes a capacity increment of 36 MTPA, 21 MTPA at Dharamtar and 15 MTPA at Jaigarh, according to an official statement.

The capex initiative encompasses extensive mechanical, civil, and electrical developments, including the addition of railway siding at Jaigarh Port to facilitate third-party cargo. The project aims to meet the increasing cargo demands, driven by a new 5 MTPA steel-making facility in Dolvi, Maharashtra. The expansion will augment Jaigarh Ports' capacity to 70 MTPA and Dharamtar Ports' to 55 MTPA, an additional 27 MTPA cargo handling capacity by its expected completion in March 2027.
