Japan has lodged a protest against Russia's decision to impose entry restrictions on 13 Japanese business executives, including the chairman of Toyota Motor, as part of its counter-sanctions measures.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi expressed strong disapproval of the restriction during a media briefing in Tokyo on Wednesday. 'The decision announced by Russia would restrict legitimate Japanese corporate activities, and that is totally unacceptable,' Hayashi stated.

The announcement signals rising tensions between the two nations amid ongoing geopolitical strife.
