A Congress delegation led by Madhya Pradesh chief Jitu Patwari met Bhopal Police Commissioner H C Mishra on Friday, pressing for adherence to service rules by the police.

This meeting follows a confrontation between Congress and BJP workers at a police station over a nursing colleges scam.

On Thursday, Congress protested the scam and marched to the Ashoka Garden police station seeking an FIR against BJP's Vishvas Sarang. Barriers set up for a 'Sunderkhand path' hindered the party's actions.

The opposition accused the BJP of using the religious event to prevent filing of complaints against Sarang.

Patwari stated that police stations are not venues for birthday celebrations or BJP events, highlighting the need for adherence to service rules.

During the confrontation, BJP women functionaries arrived with placards against Congress leaders.

Bhopal City Zone 1 Deputy Commissioner of Police Priyanka Shukla clarified that the Sunderkhand path marked the birthday of a social worker, noting other religious sites within police station campuses.

The CBI, investigating irregularities in nursing colleges, is re-inspecting 169 institutions following a High Court order after a bribery scandal involving CBI officials.
