A tragic bus accident claimed the lives of five individuals and injured around 40 when a private bus traveling from Bhopal to Hyderabad overturned in Madhya Pradesh's newly-formed Pandhurna district, police reported on Friday.
The accident occurred at approximately 10 pm on Thursday when the bus collided with a divider at Mohit Ghat, Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Brijesh Bhargava informed PTI over the phone. Three passengers died instantly, while two others succumbed to their injuries at a hospital located in Nagpur, about 60 km from the accident scene.
Upon receiving information about the accident, police quickly arrived at the site and coordinated with four ambulances to transport the injured to nearby hospitals. Initial investigations suggest that the bus was speeding at 110 kilometres per hour when the driver lost control, leading to the accident. Pandhurna, carved out of Chhindwara last year, is the 55th district of Madhya Pradesh.
