In a significant move, the Karnataka cabinet has given its nod to a bill mandating 100% reservation for Kannadigas in Group C and Group D posts in private firms, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced on Tuesday.
The decision emerged from the cabinet meeting held on Monday, highlighting the state's focus on prioritizing local employment.
''The Cabinet meeting held yesterday approved a bill to make recruitment of 100% Kannadigas mandatory for 'C and D' grade posts in all private industries in the state,'' Siddaramaiah stated on social media platform X, expressing the government's wish for a better life for Kannadigas in their homeland. The bill will be presented in the assembly on Thursday, according to law department sources.
