In the early hours of Tuesday, a foiled house break-in in Mumbai's Chembur led to a dramatic chase. Ismail Sheikh, 48, attempted to rob a home but fled when confronted by the owner, eventually hiding in an open drain.

The incident began when the homeowner, Shizeen Jaikumar, returned home at 2 am to find the thief at his door, armed with a screwdriver and a knife. A scuffle ensued, and Sheikh attempted to escape but was pursued by the homeowner.

Local residents gathered, and Sheikh remained in the drain until police arrived and arrested him. Further investigations revealed that Sheikh is a habitual offender with 25 to 30 prior cases against him.
