Karachi has witnessed a surge in street crime incidents, with over 44,000 reported from January to July this year, according to ARY News. The majority of these crimes involved motorcycle theft, as per data released by local police.

In the first seven months, more than 31,000 motorcycles were either stolen or snatched from their owners, while over 11,800 mobile phone snatching cases were recorded. Additionally, 1,200 cars were taken from citizens during the same period, contributing to heightened insecurity among residents.

Recovery rates have remained low, with only 1,500 motorcycles, 220 cars, and 120 mobile phones successfully retrieved, revealed police reports. On Friday, two people were killed while resisting robberies in separate incidents.

In one incident in North Nazimabad, a complaint was filed by Anis, who was present. The robbers also targeted Ali Hamza, a man on a different bike. The incident occurred on the KDA Chorangi flyover when armed robbers stole Anis's wallet and cell phone, injured Ali Hamza, and fled.

In another incident, robbers killed labourer Allah Dino in Ayub Goth, at the Superhighway Industrial area, while he was walking home with his child.
