In a devastating incident last week, rescuers in Nepal recovered 13 bodies, including those of three Indian nationals, after two buses were swept into the swollen Trishuli River following a landslide in the Chitwan district. Authorities stated that five of the recovered bodies are yet to be identified.

The landslide occurred in the Simaltal area along the Narayanghat-Mugling road on Friday, leading to three individuals managing to swim to safety.

Nepal's newly-appointed Home Minister, Ramesh Lekhak, has established a task force led by Joint Secretary Chhabi Rijal to investigate the accident. The task force is expected to submit a report within ten days.

The buses, traveling from Birgunj to Kathmandu and from Kathmandu to Gaur, carried 54 passengers, including seven Indian nationals. The tragedy has left 51 people missing, with only 13 bodies recovered so far.

The Nepalese government has deployed about 500 security personnel and many deep divers outfitted with modern rescue equipment, including water drones, powerful magnets, and rafting boats, to search for the missing passengers and locate the submerged buses.
