The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) staged a protest against AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi for his 'Jai Palestine' slogan during the swearing-in ceremony in the Lok Sabha.

The VHP contended that Owaisi's slogan demonstrated 'allegiance to a foreign nation' while taking his parliamentary oath.

In a statement on Sunday, the VHP highlighted that Owaisi had previously refused to say 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai', claiming it insulted the Constitution.

The protest at Jantar Mantar against five-time MP Owaisi was spearheaded by the VHP's youth wing, Bajrang Dal, with numerous VHP and Bajrang Dal leaders in attendance.

Owaisi's slogan regarding conflict-hit Palestine sparked uproar in the Lok Sabha, causing objections from some treasury benches. Radha Mohan Singh, who was presiding, assured them that only oath-related content would be recorded.

Owaisi defended his slogans at the June 25 ceremony, stating there was nothing wrong with saying 'Jai Bheem, Jai Meem, Jai Telangana, Jai Palestine.'

Post-oath, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leader hailed Telangana, Bhimrao Ambedkar, and then voiced AIMIM's Muslim slogan, ending with support for the West Asian region.

The VHP accused Owaisi of treason and making divisive statements aimed at provoking India's Muslim community.

'This is a dangerous trend that threatens national unity, reminiscent of pre-Partition events,' said Surendra Gupta of VHP's Delhi unit.

VHP's statement stressed that political unity and national integrity should be paramount for any MP, alleging Owaisi prioritized political gain instead.

A formal complaint has been filed with President Droupadi Murmu and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, seeking Owaisi's disqualification. The VHP is also examining legal avenues to strip him of his parliamentary seat while continuing public demonstrations.
