U.S. President Joe Biden announced on Monday that he has been in contact with the governors of Georgia and North Carolina in the wake of Hurricane Helene's devastating impact. The storm has resulted in more than 100 deaths, crippled communications, and left millions without electricity.

The President plans to visit the afflicted regions later this week. He noted that there are reports of 100 fatalities, with an additional 600 individuals still unaccounted for following the hurricane.

"We're not leaving until the job is done," Biden emphasized, pledging continued support and recovery efforts.
