The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday launched a major crackdown on illegal sand mining in Rajasthan, conducting searches at ten different locations across the state, officials revealed.
During these raids, the agency seized over Rs 20 lakh in cash and a country-made pistol from various sites in Jaipur, Tonk, Jodhpur, Nagaur, Bhilwara, Karoli, and Sikar.
The CBI took over the ongoing illegal sand mining case, initially registered by Bundi police, following directions from the Jaipur Bench of the Rajasthan High Court. The FIR highlighted the arrest of Sharukh on October 24 last year, who was caught transporting 40 metric tons of sand without a valid permit.
