In a rising conflict, residents of Jamshoro villages have voiced their anger against Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) for allegedly blocking their main road access, as reported by The Express Tribune. Villagers hold the university's Vice Chancellor responsible for this blockade, which they claim affects a passage predating the campus.
Key community leaders, including Ali Mardan Jamali, Paban Khoso, and Naveed Buledi, have publicly condemned the university for constructing a wall and gate that cut off access to villages Misri Khoso and Yousuf Khoso. They argue this move jeopardizes the education of over 300 local students and allege that the authorities have instigated police action against them, filing supposedly false FIRs.
Contrasting the villagers' stance, LUMHS media coordinator Saroof Bhatia explained that an alternative route spanning four acres has been allocated to the villagers, justified by the need to ensure students' safety amid several reported crimes on the former pathway. This justification aligns with the security measures supported by the university's Teachers Association and staff members.
