Two accomplished women scientists emerged among the distinguished laureates of the Infosys Prize 2024, which celebrated outstanding scientific and research achievements in multiple fields, including Economics and Physical Sciences, as announced by the Infosys Science Foundation (ISF) in Bengaluru.

Neena Gupta and Vedika Khemani were recognized for their groundbreaking work in Mathematical Sciences and Physical Sciences, respectively. Gupta, from the Indian Statistical Institute, was honored for addressing the Zariski Cancellation Problem in algebraic geometry, while Khemani of Stanford University made significant strides in non-equilibrium quantum matter with the pioneering discovery of time-crystals.

The Infosys Prize, a prestigious accolade instituted in 2009, further encompassed remarkable contributions from other scholars, who were commendably under 40, in fields like Engineering, Humanities, and Life Sciences, each receiving a gold medal and USD 100,000. Present at the event were notable figures including Narayana Murthy, praising the impact of the prizes on advancing research excellence globally.
