In an effort to demand accountability from the government, the Joint Awami Action Committee in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir has announced a Long March, scheduled for October 24. The protest aims to spotlight the government's failure to honor a promise of providing affordable electricity, which has led to increased economic burdens on local traders.

Shaukat Nawaz Mir, a committee member, emphasized that the protests stem from genuine concerns, countering government claims that demands have been addressed. "The government announced three notifications, yet no action followed," Mir stated, highlighting ongoing issues such as outdated electricity tariffs and reduced flour allocations.

Mir urged the political leaders to responsibly utilize their mandate to resolve these basic rights issues, insisting that the committee's concerns are not politically motivated. He called for an end to the exploitation of regional resources, which adversely impact the local population.
