Indian Ambassador to Laos, Prashant Agrawal, has affirmed India's status as a 'First Responder' in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, particularly within its neighborhood. This standing has fostered a strong sense of trust and confidence in India's ability to efficiently deliver aid when needed.

Agrawal's comments come ahead of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Vientiane on October 10-11, marking a significant point as India celebrates a decade of its Act East Policy. Highlighting India's swift aid operations, Agrawal referenced initiatives like Operation Sadbhav, where India provided relief to countries such as Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Vietnam following typhoon Yagi.

The ambassador also stressed the deep cultural ties between India and Lao PDR, citing the unique Ramayana tradition 'Phalak Phalam' and the shared Buddhist heritage that dates back over two millennia. This cultural bond, alongside advancements in digital infrastructure and trade, underpins the strengthening partnership between the two nations.
