India and Italy are poised to deepen their collaboration in agriculture and allied sectors, following a high-level meeting between Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi and Italian Ambassador Antonio Bartoli on Wednesday.
The discussions, held in a spirit of mutual interest, centered on bolstering joint efforts through trade, investment, and technology, with particular emphasis on making use of the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to solidify ties. Participants stressed the significance of regular Joint Working Group meetings to further this agenda.
The dialogue also highlighted opportunities for Italian businesses to invest in India's burgeoning food parks and explored collaborative ventures in plant variety protection, seeds, agricultural research, and education. The session was attended by key representatives from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and the Ministry of External Affairs, underscoring the importance of advancing technical and legal collaboration, skill development, and industry interaction.
