In the midst of calls for India to act as a mediator in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Israel's Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, highlighted New Delhi's growing global significance and its emerging role in the Middle East.

During an interview with ANI, Azar affirmed that it is up to India to determine its role. He noted the enhanced relations between Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Netanyahu and the growing ties between India and the UAE. These developments could position India as a key connector between the East and West.

Azar commented on India's balanced foreign policy, noting its good relations with both Israel and Palestine. He expressed optimism about the India-Middle-East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) despite West Asian conflicts. He stated that stability and economic cooperation will follow once regional stability is achieved.

Azar lauded India's condemnation of the October Hamas attack and called for isolating states supporting terrorism. He emphasized ongoing security cooperation with India and the need for a diplomatic push to isolate terrorist states internationally.
