The European Union organized a three-day study visit in Europe for senior Indian officials from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Ministry of Defence (MOD) to enhance defence cooperation. This initiative, taking place from September 2-4, 2024, focused on familiarizing the Indian officials with the EU's Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP).

Facilitated by the EU Delegation to India and co-funded by the Enhancing Security Cooperation In and with Asia (ESIWA) project, the visit included detailed briefings at European institutions in Brussels and the EU Naval Force Operation (EUNAVFOR) ATALANTA headquarters in Rota, Spain. The delegation, led by Joint Secretary Muanpuii Saiawi, explored avenues for collaboration in CSDP missions and the Indo-Pacific region.

Herve Delphin, EU Ambassador to India, emphasized the joint commitment to boosting security and defence ties. He highlighted the importance of maritime security and ongoing operations by EU NAVFOR and the Indian Navy. The visit ended with a tour of the EUNAVFOR operations center in Spain, solidifying the strategic partnership between India and the EU.
