Jamil Maqsood, President of the Foreign Affairs Committee for United Kashmir People's National Party (UKPNP), has voiced profound concerns about persistent human rights violations in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). In a recent ANI interview, Maqsood emphasized that activists participating in protests in PoJK are systematically targeted by Pakistani authorities.

Maqsood criticized Pakistan's actions against demonstrators calling for decreased electricity bills and the reinstatement of subsidies for essential goods. He indicated that student organizations and young political activists have been abducted in cities such as Muzaffarabad, Bagh, and Rawalakot, including cases like Mis Asma Batoor and Raja Mudassar. Around 300 activists are reportedly missing, with no data available on potential torture or illegal detainment.

The UKPNP leader urged international bodies and human rights groups to address these severe violations urgently. Maqsood elaborated on the lack of national and electronic media coverage in PoJK and Gilgit-Baltistan. He stated that information is mainly conveyed through social media and private channels, due to the unavailability of mainstream media sources. This makes it challenging to document these violations properly.
