The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed former Test pacer Aaqib Javed will continue as a member of the national selection committee, despite his interim appointment as head coach for both white and red-ball teams.

Sources within the PCB explained that since Aaqib's coaching position is temporary, he will maintain his role in the selection committee, although his influence as a selector has declined since taking over the red-ball head coach role following Jason Gillespie's departure.

Previously, South Africa's Gary Kirsten and Australia's Jason Gillespie held coaching positions with selection committee powers but were relieved of these duties after poor performance in international competitions. The PCB intends to appoint permanent coaches by the Champions Trophy conclusion, with little likelihood of rehiring foreign coaches.
