Former US President Donald Trump has categorically denied reports suggesting he initiated a call to Fox News following Vice President Kamala Harris's Convention speech in Chicago. Trump firmly stated that Bret Baier from Fox News contacted him to provide commentary on Harris's speech, and he agreed to do so.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, "Bret Baier of FoxNews called me, I didn't call him, just prior to the Kamala Convention speech, and asked me if I would like to critique her after she is finished. I agreed to do so!" This was a rebuttal to an opinion piece by The New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, who alleged that Trump made the call and dominated the conversation until he was cut off.

Trump, reiterating his stance, posted on Truth Social emphasizing that media outlets reach out to him because of his high ratings. He criticized Dowd and the New York Times for misreporting the incident. Trump's call to Fox News was shortly after Harris accepted her nomination at the Democratic National Convention. The call lasted ten minutes, with Fox hosts occasionally trying to interject.

Continuing his critique, Trump labeled Harris's speech as "weak and nonspecific," noting the omission of key issues such as fracking and inflation. Meanwhile, Trump announced JD Vance as his running mate. Additionally, entrepreneur Elon Musk has expressed his willingness to serve if Trump wins the upcoming presidential election, following Trump's endorsement of Musk's candidacy after an assassination attempt on Trump.
