Abu Dhabi [UAE], August 22 (ANI/WAM): Building on the success of its incentive-driven plastic bottle recycling initiative launched in 2022, Abu Dhabi Mobility (AD Mobility) has now installed two additional recycling units in Al Ain and Al Dhafra. The initiative encourages public bus users to deposit plastic bottles in exchange for points that can be used towards bus fares.
This program, a collaboration with the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi and Cycled Technologies, employs smart recycling stations and reverse vending machines (RVM) across major bus stations. Users can contribute to environmental sustainability while earning bus fare credits.
Using the Cycled Rewards app, participants collect points for each bottle deposited—1 point for small bottles (600 ml or less) and 2 points for larger bottles. Points are digitally converted into Hafilat card credits, with 10 points equating to AED1. This system makes it easy for commuters to offset their travel costs.
