Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with Mohammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh's interim government, highlighting the urgent need to ensure the safety and protection of minorities, particularly Hindus, in the country. According to the Prime Minister's Office, Modi reiterated India's support for a democratic, stable, peaceful, and progressive Bangladesh.
Yunus, a Nobel Peace Laureate, assured Modi that the interim government would prioritize the protection and safety of all minority communities, as stated by the PMO. Modi took to social media to share details of the call, emphasizing his commitment to support Bangladesh and its people through various developmental initiatives.
In light of the recent political turmoil, which saw Sheikh Hasina flee amid massive protests, violence against minorities has surged, prompting India's concerns. Modi stressed the importance of restoring law and order and protecting vulnerable communities in Bangladesh.
