Authorities have implemented Section 144 in Punjab and Islamabad as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) plans nationwide protests on Friday, Pakistan's Dawn reported. The section allows district administration to limit gatherings of more than four people for public interest.

PTI leader Asad Qaiser announced a protest on July 26 for the release of political prisoners, including founder Imran Khan. Tehreek Tahaffuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP) is also planning a major demonstration.

The Punjab Home Department cited significant security threats, stating that political gatherings are likely to be targeted by terrorists due to current law and order situations. Public safety and security are paramount, necessitating the ban on gatherings from July 26-28, according to Dawn.

Islamabad district administration echoed the sentiment, enforcing Section 144 and disallowing any rallies or protests. Violators will face action, with police deployment ensuring compliance and public safety.

Despite the government warnings, PTI reiterated its resolve to hold peaceful protests nationwide. Leader of the Opposition Omar Ayub called for the public's support to demand the release of PTI leaders, peace, and action against inflation.
