Maldives Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer is set to embark on a four-day official visit to China, meeting his counterpart Wang Yi and other key Chinese officials. The visit aims to bolster economic ties and collaboration, following Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu's state visit earlier this year.

Maldives Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer will begin a four-day official visit to China on Saturday, at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. This is Zameer's first visit to China since his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs in November 2023.
During the visit, Zameer will engage in high-level discussions with Chinese officials and key companies that have significantly contributed to the Maldives' economic development, according to the Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Accompanying him will be Finance Minister Mohamed Shafeeq, Construction and Infrastructure Minister Abdul Muththlib, and other senior officials.
The Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted, "At the invitation of His Excellency Mr. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Moosa Zameer will undertake an Official Visit to China from July 20-24, 2024." This visit follows Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu's state visit to China in January, where key agreements were signed, enhancing bilateral relations and socioeconomic ties.
