Nepal's Foreign Secretary in India for Key BIMSTEC Retreat

Nepal's Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal arrived in India to attend the 2nd BIMSTEC Foreign Ministers' Retreat. The event will focus on strengthening regional cooperation across various sectors. Lamsal will also meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with the BIMSTEC delegation.

Nepal's Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal has arrived in India for the Second BIMSTEC Foreign Ministers' Retreat, scheduled for July 11-12, 2024. In a press statement, Nepal's foreign ministry confirmed that Lamsal is leading the Nepali delegation to New Delhi.

The Retreat aims to discuss avenues for strengthening regional cooperation and partnerships within the BIMSTEC framework. During her visit, Lamsal will also meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alongside other BIMSTEC representatives.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) explained that the Retreat provides a platform for informal discussions on enhancing cooperation in various sectors, including security, connectivity, and trade. BIMSTEC, which includes seven member states from South and Southeast Asia, initially held this event in 2023 in Bangkok.
