Zelenskiy Seeks Strong Decisions from Western Allies in Germany Visit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy arrived at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, aiming to secure robust commitments from Western allies for long-range strikes into Russia, as part of efforts to hasten peace.

Ukraine has faced a barrage of drones and missiles from Russia in recent weeks, intensifying the country's urgent need for enhanced air defense and long-range strike capabilities to counter the invasion that has lasted over 30 months.

In a meeting with the Ramstein group, which consists of defense ministers from around 50 nations that supply arms to Ukraine, Zelenskiy underscored the need for the capability to strike not only within Ukraine but also on Russian territory. His visit marks the first time he joined this gathering at the U.S. air base.

During his stay, Zelenskiy plans to join a session of the Contact Group on Ukraine's defense and meet with top officials including U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Afterwards, he will travel to Italy to attend the Ambrosetti international economic forum and engage with Italian business leaders and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
