The strike by junior doctors in medical colleges and hospitals across Uttar Pradesh to protest the alleged rape and murder of a medic in Kolkata entered its 10th day on Wednesday.

Medical services at several hospitals, including King George's Medical University, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, and Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, were severely affected by the strike.

Uttar Pradesh Resident Doctors' Association state president Hardeep Jogi informed PTI, ''The strike by junior doctors continued, with OPD and other services disrupted in all medical colleges.'' He added that the doctors are conducting peaceful protests to support their colleagues in West Bengal.

The body of the trainee woman doctor, bearing severe injury marks, was discovered inside the seminar hall of Kolkata's R G Kar Medical College on August 9.

Kolkata Police arrested a civic volunteer the following day for his alleged involvement in the incident.
