Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday flagged off 58 new ambulances equipped with the latest medical equipment.

With this addition, the ambulance fleet size in Punjab has reached 325, aimed at reaching patients within 15 minutes in urban areas and 20 minutes in rural regions. These GPS-enabled ambulances will work in tandem with the 'Sadak Surkhya Force' to ensure timely healthcare during emergencies, Mann stated.

Costing Rs 14 crore, the ambulances feature lifesaving drugs and state-of-the-art equipment. Mann emphasized their role in providing primary treatment to save lives effectively. The current ambulance fleet has already transported over one lakh patients this year, including heart patients, pregnant women, and newborns delivered in transit.

Mann also noted the success of 'aam aadmi clinics,' which have served 1.75 crore people with a high recovery rate. The state is upgrading its healthcare infrastructure, with new medical colleges in Hoshiarpur, Sangrur, and Kapurthala. This progress has contributed to a trend of reverse migration, with more people returning to Punjab. Additionally, over 43,000 youths have been provided government jobs within the last two years, he claimed.
