Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankar has called upon states to reconsider and adopt the new National Education Policy (NEP), which he described as a 'gamechanger.' Speaking at the International Literacy Day celebrations on Sunday, Dhankar emphasized the policy's potential to empower youth and harness their talent and energy.
Dhankar cautioned against those who tarnish India's institutions and urged citizens to guide 'misguided souls' who fail to recognize the nation's progress. He also highlighted the importance of mother tongue and India's unparalleled linguistic diversity, pointing out that he allows Rajya Sabha members to speak in 22 different languages.
Stressing the urgency of achieving 100% literacy, Dhankar appealed to everyone to contribute by making at least one person literate. He called for a 'mission mode' approach with commitment and passion, asserting that literacy can help individuals achieve independence and dignity, thus playing a crucial role in building a 'Viksit Bharat.'
