The Resident Doctors' Association of GTB Hospital, which had been on an indefinite strike demanding better security measures, has called off its protest following assurances from the Delhi government.

A representative from the doctors' association stated that a meeting with Special Health Secretary Danish Ashraf led to agreed improvements in security for hospital staff and patients.

'The health department assured us of looking into our demands, including the deployment of metal detectors at entry gates and walkie-talkies for security personnel,' the representative noted. Police patrolling within the hospital premises was also promised, he added.

The decision to end the strike came after a troubling incident—a 32-year-old man was fatally shot by a teenager inside a hospital ward on Sunday. The strike began on Monday at 9 am, severely impacting routine patient care in non-emergency departments.

The doctors have signed a letter to officially call off their strike.
