Delhi Government Cracks Down on Late-Night Liquor Sales
The Delhi government has warned hotels, clubs, and restaurants about serving liquor beyond stipulated timings. The Excise Department of Delhi has directed all licensees to follow the Delhi Excise Rules 2010 or face punitive action. The establishments are allowed to operate till 1 am, with strict CCTV monitoring to ensure compliance.

The Delhi government has issued a stern warning to hotels, clubs, and restaurants serving liquor in violation of stipulated timings. The establishments have been directed to adhere to the Delhi Excise Rules, 2010, or risk punitive action.
In a communication to all excise licensees, including L-15/L15F, L-16/L16F, L17/17F, L-18/L18F, L-19/19F, L-28/L28F, and L29/29F, the Excise Department emphasized the importance of complying with Rule 55(1) of the rules, which outline the working hours and conditions for liquor sales.
Despite past proposals to extend operating hours to 3 am, current rules only allow operation until 1 am. Excise officials have indicated that enforcement teams have found numerous timing violations, taken seriously by the department. Compliance includes maintaining functional CCTV cameras at licensed premises to verify adherence during inspections.
