Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Vayu Veer Vijeta car rally in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday, marking a significant moment for the Indian Air Force (IAF). The rally serves to commemorate the IAF's 92nd anniversary as well as the 25th anniversary of India's victory in the 1999 Kargil War. Organized by the Indian Air Force Maintenance Command, the event aims to raise awareness about the IAF's illustrious history and valor in various operations, as well as to inspire the nation's youth to enlist in the Armed Forces, according to the Ministry of Defence.
Coinciding with his two-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh, Defence Minister Singh also plans to interact with Armed Forces personnel stationed in the Tawang sector. He expressed his enthusiasm for the visit via social media, highlighting his intent to attend the inaugural ceremony of a museum dedicated to Major Ralengnao Bob Khathing, a celebrated Indian Army officer. Singh, accompanied by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, departed for Tawang early Wednesday morning.
A day prior, Singh commended the Indian Navy's dedication to self-sufficiency and innovation during the 'Swavalamban Conference 2024.' He applauded their strides in reducing dependency on imports and lauded their commitment to developing a vibrant culture of innovation and technological advancements. Singh emphasized the Indian Navy's role in fostering self-reliance within the defense sector.
